We compile an up-to-date database of job ads suitable for UK visa sponsorship from licensed UK companies, and help you navigate through British labour market.
Anastasia, originally from Russia, came to the UK to pursue her dreams of becoming a political scientist. Having completed her Master’s Degree at UCL, she was looking for a job that would sponsor her UK work visa and allow her to stay in Britain. She spent hours upon hours searching through the mainstream British job boards for interesting opportunities, cross-checking each with the visa sponsor list and other Home Office regulations. One day she found herself on page 39 of the Tier 2 Visa guidance document and decided -
“Staying in the UK and contributing to the local economy should not be this hard!””
Anastasia realised that the rules for visa sponsorship were, at their core, quite simple. The problem was that there were lots of them, buried throughout Home Office rules and regulations, and applied selectively, depending on your personal circumstances. This required a lot of checking, cross-checking and calculating - the kind of monotonous, precise work that computers are for!
Anastasia took this idea to UCL’s Innovation and Enterprise department and they agreed, providing her with support to make her vision a reality. The COVID-19 pandemic threatened to stop the business in its tracks but Anastasia persisted. In 2020, UKHired went from an idea to having 1,000+ jobs on the website and serving international students and overseas professionals from 148 countries.
UKHired is now in full swing, with 2021 promising to be a great year as we build amazing new features for our users, such as personalised weekly job alerts. We will also look to reach out to British employers to help them source bright foreign talent for the roles that are hardest to fill.
