building surveyor location: uk flexible contract type: permanent hours: 35 per week salary: £30,000 to £34,000 per annum, depending on experience (plus a company car) are you a solutions-focussed surveyor, who could work closely with british red cross managers and property users to plan and develop the property portfolio within scotland and northern england? we have a great opportunity for a highly organised and meticulous building surveyor to join our property team and be accountable for all property-related budgets to help drive significant revenue efficiencies from the property portfolio and release additional resources to help people in crisis. what you will be doing reporting to the senior building surveyor, will work closely with the internal client and property professionals to ensure consistent support across all property related activity. this will include the requirement to develop good working relationships with key staff at the shared service centre based in paisley. in this largely autonomous role, your aim is to drive efficiency, compliance, flexibility and future scalability through the provision of effective corporate support services, applications, data management, purchasing and not only providing the services but working as a strategic business partner to the property department and other colleagues. this role offers flexible working and the applicant will have the opportunity to work from home and/or in any of our local offices. given that the role will require frequent travel, it is desirable that the successful candidate would be based within scotland or northern england. this role is right for you if… you will hold a surveying qualification (mciob, mrics or qualified by experience) and be confident in building defect diagnosis, asbestos management, accessibility, fire risk assessments and production and implementation of planned preventative maintenance systems. you're highly organised with meticulous attention to detail and have experienced of cdm coordination and project management, working with a high level of delegated authority and autonomy to deliver agreed outcomes. with previous experience of client work, you'll possess great communication and interpersonal skills, able to negotiate and influence other professionals and manage contractors and consultants. you will be it literate and have a basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. good report writing skills are required and you'll have experience in the production of property inspections, tender documents, arranging tenders and acting as contract administrator. you will share our beliefs and fundamental principles and have a genuine interest in working for the british red cross and being part of the world's largest humanitarian movement.
