Department of Accounting

Southampton Business School has an ambitious quality driven strategy, which will see us strengthen our position as a world-class Business School in research, education and enterprise. As an AMBA and AACSB accredited Business School we are seeking to recruit a number of outstanding individuals for key research and teaching positions in a number of disciplines as outlined below to play a crucial role in the School achieving its vision. Applications will be considered from candidates interested in part time hours of 0.6FTE and above.

As part of a world-renowned Top 100 QS ranked Russell Group University with a global reputation for academic excellence, we offer a stimulating, challenging and dynamic working environment for all our staff. The Business School is a strong part of the University with successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, a large PhD portfolio as well as an MBA and DBA.

The Department of Accounting brings together internationally renowned academics that research on, and teach in, a wide range of accounting, accountability, finance and governance topics with an increasing and unique emphasis on corporate governance, financial reporting, social and environmental accounting, taxation and contemporary accounting issues. Colleagues in the Department have published in leading journals, such as the Review of Accounting Studies, British Journal of Management, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of World Business Accounting, British Accounting Review amongst others.

The Department is one of the largest in the School with highly successful undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in accounting and finance that have distinctive focus on employability and interdisciplinarity, including offering joint programmes with other disciplines, such as economics and management, which are able to attract high-quality students.

We would like to hear from applicants with a relevant PhD (or equivalent degree/professional qualifications and experience) and strong evidence of research outputs through a track record of high-quality publications at a minimum ABS 3* level (or equivalent standing) and research grant income, together with strong leadership skills and clear plans for current and future research and teaching in any area of accounting, including, but not limited to auditing, financial accounting, management accounting and taxation. Research interests in auditing, corporate governance, corporate finance, financial reporting and disclosure, financial management, management accounting, social and environmental accounting, and taxation with potential for collaboration with colleagues in the School are particularly encouraged.

Visible, engaged and collegiate you will have an extensive experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and be passionate about developing and disseminating successful learning techniques.

For applicants interested in a Part Time role, please note: This role is unlikely to support a Certificate of Sponsorship with a part time salary amount (a Certificate of Sponsorship is required to obtain a Skilled Worker visa to work in the UK).
