Business Development - Assistant Manager, Financial Services (within D&BC)

Location: London/surrounding areas this is flexible, but with an expectation to be in the London office 2-3 times a week

Grant Thornton UK is rolling out a new, invigorated national approach to industries and this role will play an important function within this, by supporting the Financial Services sector team within our Deals & Business Consulting practice to develop and execute their insurance growth strategy.

The Grant Thornton UK LLP Deals & Business Consulting (D&BC) practice works with clients to help them maximise value through the full deal lifecycle including corporate finance, financial and operational due diligence, valuations, carve outs and integrations and restructuring.

A look into the role

  • You will interact and engage with all parts of the deals and insurance business to support in tailoring and executing our Insurance deals growth strategy.
  • You will prepare meeting packs and collateral for the team ahead of meetings with key targets, updating the team on key developments and focus areas for the target business, deliver insights into the executives we are meeting at the target entities and history of interaction between GT and the target
  • Support with the follow up after the meetings (including preparing and distributing meeting notes) and ensuring that the next meetings are scheduled and attended by the right people at Grant Thornton
  • Engage with the key account and heartland account teams to ensure meetings are being set up
  • Where non-client targets are identified, support with meeting generation
  • Report to key stakeholders on activities, insights and opportunities
  • Coordinate insights and knowledge from our Deals & Business Consulting practice with wider parts of the firm

Joining us as a Business Development Assistant Manager to support Financial Services, the minimum criteria you’ll need is the ability to demonstrate some business development experience. You must also have strong organisational skills and have a proactive, can-do professional approach.

  • A good understanding of sales and or client management activity.
  • Strong communication skills and project management experience.
  • Some experience within a professional services business development role would be advantageous
  • Some interest and/ or experience in the Financial Services/ Insurance sector would also be advantageous
