We do this by creating innovative tech and new financing models that unlock capital for entrepreneurs in emerging markets, enabling them to grow their businesses, hire new employees, and contribute to the global economy. We are an early stage startup and are growing fast. Our client base largely consists of development organizations, such as the Islamic Development Bank, the World Bank, and the UN. Our data and tech have underpinned, among other projects, novel research on crowdfunding in East Africa for FSD Africa and social entrepreneurship in Indonesia for UNDP, as well as the first database of funders for the Sustainable Development Goals. We are looking to build on our success by hiring an experienced business development, fundraising, or sales professional who has a track record of building relationships with and selling to international development organizations.
The Role This is an excellent opportunity for a business development professional with a Management Consulting background and experience selling tech enabled solutions to development agencies to join a growing firm active in the intersection of technology, finance, and international development. Our focus is on emerging markets, therefore a background working or living in East Asia, Latin America, or sub-Saharan Africa will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will have considerable autonomy, proposing, creating, and executing a sales strategy for an agile firm seeking to disrupt the international development space. Creative strategic thinking is valued above all else, so come prepared to propose, trial, and execute ideas that can help the company grow to new heights.
We are looking for a long-term candidate that will be able to establish a sales strategy in the first several weeks in the position, and then move forward on implementing this strategy.
Responsibilities Sales Strategy and planning - creating and executing a sales and client acquisition strategy for effective revenue and client growth. This includes effective use of CRM, sales and data analysis, providing accurate targets and forecasts.
Business Development – creating and finding new contacts to sell AlliedCrowds products and services into. This includes lead generation, follow up and owning end to end sales cycle.
Maintaining repeat business and growing yield business - making use of existing contacts and building new ones to sell AlliedCrowds products and services. Maintaining and growing revenue streams from existing contacts by developing multiple relationships across target portfolio. Effectively leveraging internal resources to ensure maximum revenue generation over the long term. Managing delivery of products and services - ensuring that clients receive products and services to agreed standards of quality and on time by effectively monitoring the process.
Marketing & Product Development - liaising with research and tech teams to create marketing materials and interactive tools to attract new clients and achieve greater brand and product awareness.
International travel – representing AlliedCrowds at industry conferences and events, interacting with senior government officials and donor staff.
Minimum Qualifications Degree in Marketing, Business, Entrepreneurship, or relevant work experience Experience working with the public and private sector across multiple countries Experience in emerging markets, particularly Africa -- understanding of issues related to developing context Experience selling renewal products and services to development and government agencies Understanding of and experience in selling tech and data products, especially SaaS, platforms, and databases Excellent track record of generating sales and meeting targets and quotas Creative thinking around sales strategy, demonstrated by establishing lead qualification and generation in previous roles Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including representing a company at industry events and/or speaking at conferences High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, table analysis, graphs) to output to client facing reports and presentations
Preferred Qualifications Additional and local languages a plus Experience working within NGOs or large international development organizations (UN, World Bank, etc.)
Compensation Base Salary of up to £40,000 for candidates with the right qualifications and experience, plus a percentage of new revenue brought in. In addition to highly competitive compensation, working at AlliedCrowds provides the following benefits:
