Independents by Sodexo have a permanent role for a Catering Manager. This rewarding, people leadership role is based at The Edinburgh Academy Senior School for 11- 18 year olds.

The Edinburgh Academy is a modern, exciting, vibrant co-educational school for 2 to 18-year olds. Housed on two characterful sites near the centre of Scotland's capital, the school provides the best in 21st century education.

This role blends team leadership and the management of Catering, Hospitality Events and External Lets Business within the school (operating on 52 weeks). Well suited to someone with high level relationship skills, strong commercial acumen and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Main Responsibilities
  • Management of Core School Catering, School Hospitality and Events
  • To ensure financial aspects of catering operations are managed professionally and within the financial guidelines agreed with the client
  • Effectively manage the Sodexo team to ensure that exemplary services are provided at the school.
  • Manage resources and promote an ethos of team work and to instil a culture of continuous improvement
  • Act as the primary representative of Sodexo within the contract by the effective management of Craft team and Front of House team to ensure the delivery of both qualitative and quantitative results
  • Foster long term relationships with the schools to maintain existing business and identify new business opportunities by delivering operational excellence
  • Provide direction and expertise to the operating teams by promoting Sodexo strategies and best business practices to uphold the Company mission and values
  • Motivate and lead a high performing team to achieve their objectives
  • Hold monthly team briefing meetings using Company team brief advising of key company messages

The Ideal Candidate
  • Independent School/College/University background would be preferable
  • Experienced working in the food industry
  • A confident communicator especially at client high level essential
  • Strong IT & financial skills
  • Ability to act on own initiative and take ownership
  • Confident in leading & motivating a team
  • Food Safety Level 3 or equivalent is beneficialDemonstrate an understanding of the particular constraints of working within a school – an enhanced DBS certificate is mandatory
