A rare opportunity has arisen for a (Clinical) Chair in Oncology in the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, University of Aberdeen for an outstanding academic.
Funded by a donation from Friends of Anchor, the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian, this permanent post is aimed at individuals at Consultant level who have already demonstrated commitment to a clinical academic career path and delivered excellence in both academic and clinical roles. The appointee will be accorded NHS Honorary Consultant status and will contribute to the clinical work of the NHS Department of Oncology. We wish to appoint a candidate with a strong academic track record who will establish a programme of excellence in Oncology research, attract a portfolio of external research grants, deliver high quality publications, build a world class research team and create a vibrant environment for research and teaching. A new, purpose-built Cancer Centre is at an advanced stage of planning and is due to be completed by 2023. This post will therefore provide an ideal opportunity to be part of an exciting development of cancer services in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland and to help lead a portfolio of research in Oncology and related specialties. Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical Consultant salary scale (£84,984 - £112,925 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
