Due to some exciting developments in our Data &Analytics Strategy we have created a new role of Lead BI Developer / Lead DataEngineer. This position will be responsible for overseeing thespecification, building and maintenance of our migration onto a brand new cloud-baseddata engineering platform. This includes the integration and management of thevarious data sources that feed into and from our D&A systems.
As a subject matter expert, a key responsibility of thisrole is to coach, mentor and direct a team of Data Engineers and a DataArchitect. To allow maximum focus on the core elements of this role itwill be supported by a Professional Development Leader who is responsible forthe day to day support of the team. Whilst the role will have a degree of‘hands on’ architecture and engineering, the primary purpose of the role is toensure activity and outcomes of the Engineering team and Architect are alignedto the overall objectives of the department.
As a senior member of the Data & Information Team thesuccessful candidate will represent the Department across the Society, engagingwith colleagues at all levels. On this basis, excellent people andcommunication skills are a pre-requisite and will include the translationbetween technical and not-technical teams.
Although this role has no direct line managementresponsibilities, our matrix management operating model requires an individualwith a proven track record of making strategic business decisions andconsidering relevant risks. It will also have a proven ability of deliveringresults by leading teams using coaching and mentoring techniques to create ahigh performing team.
Due to the ongoing situation presented by Covid-19 we areoperating this role remotely at the moment, so the successful candidate will be on-boarded from home. We expect this to be the case until the end of the yearand then in 2021 we will look to offer flexible working to support thesuccessful colleague.
