You will be a Data Specialist on the Net Purpose Team. You will help us build the world’s most comprehensive database of social and environmental performance. You will be responsible for: • Collecting, cleaning, and consolidating data on the social and environmental performance of listed and unlisted companies, as well as macro impact data sets from organisations such as the UN; • Quality Assurance (QA) of ingested social and environmental performance data, checking and referencing each data point to its original source, and cataloging sources for easy retrieval; • Capturing the tacit knowledge that we're quickly building up as we grow our data sets. A good example is how we deal with exceptions and training soundbites to improve extraction; • Improving and maintaining data quality by running QA processes (regular random sampling, gathering user feedback) and implementing agreed improvements; • Training and improving data extraction performance, and future AI / ML based techniques; • Working on developing new analytics and data products in collaboration with the research team; • Manage analytics product support - internal and external client queries, building example use cases for clients and to support sales & marketing; • Doing all of this through our analyst platform, working with our team of leading engineers to fast-track your analysis and scaling it to enable the allocation of trillions for impact.
You are a superstar investment or research analyst with a passion for impact investing, and: • Masters degree in sustainability, data, analysis, or related field; • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in research, investment banking, or analytics related to social and environmental performance; • Domain expertise in a social or environmental theme: climate, labour, gender etc; • You are highly numerate, love numbers and feel at home in excel and analysing companies; • Exceptional attention to detail, an eye for quality and for errors that need investigating; • Have an understanding of corporate fundamentals, valuations, and accounting; • Are comfortable handling large datasets, and get excited by statistical conclusions; • Want to build a career that has more meaning than ‘Net Profit’; you care about ‘Net Purpose;’ • Are a team player, you “manage up,” muck-in, and are excited about our start-up pace; • Have the necessary work permits to work in the UK; • Strong communication skills and an ability to present results of analysis to experts; • Data experience beyond Excel: in STATA, C#/.NET, C++, SQL, or desire to learn; • See yourself growing with Net Purpose over time, as a data specialist, scientist or other roles.
