The Role of a Business Analyst 

HMPO requires a full-time Business Intelligence Analyst position to analyse, verify, validate and create reporting for the business to ensure data quality of the business. This position will regularly provide feedback to management to mitigate risks, identify and address gaps with source systems, and recommend improvements throughout the Business Units database ensuring a consistent, optimal level of quality for data held within. The position will verify the quality of the data as it relates to the source system sending the data via inspection, manual testing, using tools and audit reports and thoroughly analysing. This person will communicate with HMPOs internal I.T. resources, external partners and other Business units. 

Key outcome & deliverables: 
Interact regularly with Product owner, Steering group, Business units and other stakeholder to build a healthy backlog of up to 4-6 sprints at any point in time. 
Work closely with  Business organisational units, Tech Leads, QA Leads, external partners and other stake holders to create highly detailed level stories for the HMPO BI Team to build reports independently. 
Work closely with Product Owner, Steering group, Business organisational units to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. 
Maintain high quality up-to date documentation. 

Essential Criteria: 
Review and analyse source data throughout the report creation-completion phase. 
Provide risk assessment and feedback throughout the duration of the Project as progress of data analysis occurs. 
Track data changes throughout the solution, reviewing requirements, analysing system workflows and ensuring the final data passes inspection and the data flow is creating the data accurately. 
Perform automated and manual profiling, auditing, report creation. 
Assist in maintaining the data integrity of the database by creating and/or updating daily, weekly and monthly reports. Analyse the reports looking for data discrepancies or trends. Summarize and communicate findings to management. 
Completes ad-hoc reporting requests within a reasonable turn-around time. 
Standard operating procedure documented for future reference. 
Performs simple and moderately complex tasks independently. 
Proven ability to take on additional responsibilities with a positive attitude. 
Proven ability to recommend improvements and implement solutions. 

Desirable Criteria: 
 Create very high-quality JIRA stories, which can be used by the BI team to build reports independently. 
Very strong communication skills with the ability to interact with other analysts, developers and varying levels of business stakeholders. 
Basic to advanced knowledge of IT technical specs, data flow, troubleshooting and testing methodologies. 
5+ years' experience working in a database environment in data validation, analysis and/or reporting. 
Advance knowledge of SQL ETL Processes. (7 out of 10) 
Proficient with MS- SSAS. 
The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of perspective. 
Previous experience in BI solution development is highly advantageous.

Proficient use of MS Tech Stack & Power BI 
Reporting experience 
Producing Reports for Operations 
Data Transactions – raw data use 
Remote working – understanding the self-starter requirements 
Technical experience – ability to liaise with Tech Leads, QA Leads, Product Owner, Stakeholders, etc 
Industry non-specific – preference in Digital/Database project environment within large, fast paced organisation
