Role overview: 

The Tes website is a global platform made up of several million pages that attracts millions of visitors every month. As well as marketing pages, a significant percentage of its scale is made up of product environments, including the leading jobs board for teaching professional, the largest platform for teacher-made resources, and the renowned Tes Magazine. This whole environment has gone through significant developments in key areas, with other large development to come.


With the focus on the marketing sections of tes.com (rather than product environment), this role involves the development, analysis, content updates, and optimisation of tes.com, plus the management of external sites owned by Tes through company acquisitions.


With a new phase of the web strategy about to be defined and rolled out, this is an exciting time for an experienced professional to own this high-value space and drive its development and optimisation.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the Head of Digital to set and deliver the wider website strategy.
  • Manage the Digital Executive, who supports the overall content updates and development of Tes websites.
  • Work alongside the SEO Manager to help with the overall optimisation of the website.
  • Act as the Product Owner of the website, manage and prioritise the development backlog, and ensures the requirements are understood in detail.
  • Work closely with the Scrum Master and technical/engineering colleagues to achieve the right developments and improvements in a timely manner.
  • Work with marketing colleagues to ensure we have the correct information, content, and functionality to maximise our ability to meet objectives.
  • Own the day-to-day analytics of the website and support with regular reporting, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Work with third-party providers in the development and optimisation of tes.com
  • Support the process of taking websites of acquired businesses and bringing them into tes.com.
  • Help establish the strategic new phase of the Tes website, in collaboration with product.


What will you need to succeed? 

  • Highly organised with strong project management skills and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to enable strong working relationships both across the wider marketing function and outside of marketing.
  • High attention to detail both in analysing information and specifying the scope of developments.
  • Analytical approach to data, which helps create action and improvement, rather than just reports.
  • Experienced of working hand-in-hand with developers – ideally working with Scrum Masters and agile/sprint methodologies.
  • Highly driven, with a sense of urgency, and motivated to create change in line with business objectives.
  • Able to work withing evolving environments, dealing with nuances and edge cases on the move.
  • Experience of managing people and developing individuals.
  • Experience of working with high-profile or high-traffic websites.
  • Experience of CRO.
  • Have a solid technical understanding to be able to speak with engineering colleagues effectively.
  • Ability to understand business and marketing strategies and reflect those in web developments plans.
  • Able to identify potential issues and find solutions.
  • Diplomatic, energetic, and confident.
