IX Wireless is the unique position of being able to implement ground breaking digital technology faster, cheaper and more effectively than anywhere else in the world. It is currently undertaking the development and roll-out of a national fixed wireless network unlike anything else on the market. The fixed wireless network delivers bandwidth through the air without the disruption and cost of traditional ground fibre schemes.

Field Operations Manager - Recruitment, onboarding, training and escalated issues.

To support the operations team with delivering wireless connections to a potential target of 4 million homes in the North-West and the Midlands. The infrastructure delivers connectivity via transmitters mounted on rooftops, telecommunication masts, monopoles and street poles. We are building this infrastructure in around 12,000 locations as part of our first phase. Our fixed wireless network delivers bandwidth through the air to the premises without the disruption and cost of traditional ground fibre schemes.

We are looking for an experienced Manager who is able to operate as an escalated point of contact for our field based operations team. Although there will be the requirement to be hands on at times, you will primarily be responsible for the recruitment, engagement and management of field staff.

You will operate as an extension to the internal HR team and work within the operations function.

Duties of the Field Operations Manager

  • Work in the field reviewing active projects, review completed construction projects.
  • Recruiting new staff using the Group HR and recruitment team as a source of candidates but also using your own contacts and means of attracting field staff.
  • Interviewing and contract negotiation
  • Onboarding new team members to ensure work is completed to the highest quality
  • Provide ongoing, on-the-job training
  • Handling performance management issues and disciplinaries
  • Managing staff and growing the team as our network grows across the UK
  • Monitoring progress constantly and delivering on timescales
  • Taking accountability at all stages of the recruitment process

This role is responsible for the HR Operations of the field/site based staff, so you must be happy to spend long periods of time out on site.

The successful candidate will be;

·Experienced in recruiting for construction/utilities/engineering staff.

·Flexible in terms of working hours - Although this is a Monday to Friday role, you must be willing to provide out of hours support if any urgent issues arise.

·Have experience of running or supervising a team, ideally in a Site based environment.

·Able to work in a fast-paced environment that can be highly frustrating, whilst maintaining a cool head.

·Highly organised.

·Proactive - This is a fast paced, fluid and live process, but all regulations and compliance still have to be monitored.

·Looking to develop within a fast -growing business and happy to work long hours.
