Job Title: Head of Operations
Location: Loughborough (office based)
Salary: £45,000-£55,000 (dependant on experience) + benefits
Job Type: Full Time - 8.30 - 5.30 Monday to Friday - Permanent
The Role
Optima are currently recruiting for a Head of Operations who will play a critical role in the growth and success of our client who are based within the automotive industry sector. You would be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and legal compliance of the fleet, excellent negotiation skills and a strong ability to build and maintain relationships within the current supplier database.
Duties and responsibilities for the Head of Operations:
Develop and implement an effective fleet maintenance strategy in alignment with the company objectives;
Establish maintenance schedules and procedures, review and update maintenance processes;
Ensure the fleet's compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as MOT, road tax and insurance;
Implement quality control measures and conduct regular audits
Develop and manage the fleet maintenance budget, being aware of cost-effective operations;
Identifying cost reduction through process improvements and supplier negotiation;
Monitor expenses, analysing cost trends and providing regular reports on the fleet maintenance budget to the senior management team;
Establish and maintain strong relationships with external suppliers, including maintenance and repair service providers;
Negotiate contracts and service level agreements with suppliers;
Monitor supplier performance, resolve any issues and conduct regular performance reviews;
Lead and manage a team of fleet maintenance professionals;
Collaborate with other departments such as Operations and Finance
The successful candidate:
You would have proven experience in a similar fleet management or vehicle maintenance leadership role;
Strong knowledge of light commercial vehicles and their maintenance requirements;
Understanding of manufacturer specifications and industry best practices;
Demonstrated experience in cost control and budget management;
Excellent supplier management and negotiation skills
