Jisc is looking for an Integration Specialist to join our team on a Hybrid basis- flexibility to work from home or at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Harwell).In return, you will receive a competitive salary from £37,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience.

The Integration Specialist role:

This role sits within the business systems team within the Group CTO directorate. The Business systems team is responsible for developing and maintaining central systems which are used to support our customer facing activities. We work with all parts of the organisation, and are playing a key part in transformation projects.

The Integration Specialist will play a key part in the roll out of our MuleSoft integration platform to connect our systems and services together.

Responsibilities as our Integration Specialist?

  • Develop and maintain new integrations, and changes to existing integrations, between Jisc systems and services
  • Design integrations solutions and document the design in accordance with best practice
  • Support development on resolving system defects, acting as liaison, and developing solutions
  • Provide technical assistance to troubleshoot and resolve integration errors
  • Work with users, product owners and team members to understand requirements, and help translate these into development tasks#
  • Follow Jisc’s process for secure development
  • Follow internal processes and standards for managing development across its lifecycle, from initial design to feature release and bug fixes
  • Write unit tests
  • Participate in testing and release cycles
  • Demonstrate functionality to users, either face to face, or remotely
  • Monitor performance and reliability of integrations
  • Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve quality, efficiency and process’s
  • Keep up to date with new developments, trends and best practices
  • Contribute to ongoing development the of CI/CD capability

What we’re looking for in our Integration Specialist:

  • Relevant IT qualification?eg?degree?or equivalent demonstrable development experience gained in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge and working experience of integrating with APIs
  • Experience with Java or at least another Object-Oriented language
  • Working knowledge of HTTP, in particular request/response patterns, REST, and common methods (GET/POST/PUT/DELETE/PATCH)
  • Knowledge and experience of database design concepts and usage
  • Good problem solving skills and ability to debug existing work
