An opportunity has arisen within a small, dynamic and global organisation that is focused on developing and supporting baggage tracking and management applications and services, used by airlines and airports, at over 100 airports around the world.

As a Java Software Engineer, you will be primarily focused on Java development. You will be responsible for development, testing for various applications within our baggage product range.

You will be Hybrid working (Remote and Office).

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Product Owner, Agile Lead and team members to collaborate and influence development
  • Software development - develop, test, documentation and support for products
  • Implementation of the design, for development of new and existing software
  • Ensure on-time delivery of software to the required quality and for agreed timescales
  • Supporting applications in production, for investigating of software issues and identifying solutions.
  • Sharing knowledge and best practices within the organization

Experience and personal skills

  • Excellent understanding of Core Java (3+years)
  • Experience in developing and implementing Java applications
    • Java v1.8 and above
    • JSP/JSTL, JSF, JavaScript
    • JDBC & JPA or Hibernate
    • XML / JSON, Xpath, XSLT
    • JEE (EJB desirable)
  • Excellent understanding in RDMS and SQL knowledge is key
  • Experience of architectural design of applications
  • Experience in Java web services frameworks (Soap/Rest)
  • Experience in Application Server (Tomcat, Glassfish)
  • Understanding of the Agile methodology
  • Excellent communicator and team player
  • Should be resourceful and proactive in performing activities requested to ensure the required quality and timely delivery
  • There may be occasional international travel
  • Pass a criminal record check
  • Fully vaccinated from COVID-19
