About the Department
SSE Renewables is the UK and Ireland's leading renewable energy company. Our aim is to be the largest and most efficient developer of onshore and offshore wind in the UK and Ireland. We drive new growth by identifying, developing, building and operating high quality assets in GB, Ireland and internationally. In order to contribute to a low carbon future we have committed to treble our current Renewables output by 2030.
What is the Role?
The Lead Bid Analyst is a critical and very exciting role within our expanding Renewables bid team. It's a fantastic opportunity to work across technologies and jurisdictions with a highly capable team, providing critical bid analysis that informs bid strategy development and decision making for all our bids.
You'll be responsible for building the analytical capability within the team, along with generating and analysing relevant information to support bid development. This will include in-depth statistical and probabilistic analysis to create a detailed understanding of the competitive landscape, including internal benchmarking against outputs of competitor analysis as well as technology, supply chain and pricing reviews, drawing conclusions and recommendations to inform the bid strategy development.
You'll also be accountable for developing in-house auction modelling capability and running complex models and scenarios to assess technical and commercial options that could benefit the bid strategy. You'll then use this information to draw conclusions from findings and communicate ideas and recommendations through written and verbal presentations.
You'll also be supporting the value improvement agenda across bid disciplines; analysing associated data to understand viability of options, and support work streams in driving activities forward to inclusion bids.
What do I need?
We are looking for someone who is highly analytical, that loves data analysis and problem solving, and can identify commercial opportunities within a business case. You'll need to have a good understanding of Renewables, and in particular bid economics and the energy market, as well as the capability to influence key stakeholders and articulate complex problems and analysis in a clear and concise manner.
You'll also need a strong understanding of key drivers, risks and sensitivities of financial bid modelling, along with the ability to challenge all aspects of bid costs and drive efficiencies in all areas of the business case.
A sound knowledge of auction dynamics, game theory and probabilistic analysis and how to apply them in a dynamic bid environment will also be beneficial.
