Ordnance Survey are currently looking for a Lead Engineer to join our team. At OS, we believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £53,754 - £63,240 per annum.

We have an opportunity for a highly motivated Lead Engineer to join Ordnance Survey’s Engineering department to help establish a team. This is an exciting time of transformation within engineering and specifically within our Business & Fulfilment domain, with major investment underway within an ERP programme to move our legacy, on-premise systems to the next generation cloud-based future.

Having a thirst for knowledge and the ability to think creatively are highly valued in OS Engineering’s culture and ethos. This role will challenge you to understand requirements and develop innovative solutions for our external and internal customers, for our systems that underpin customer ordering & fulfilment platforms as well as providing wider business integration services.

As part of this role you will:

• Work towards developing, debugging, testing, scaling, and monitoring systems within Azure
• Collaborate with other teams at OS to enable their systems to integrate across Azure
• Liaise with project managers and stakeholders to shape project delivery and lead your team/s
• Promote best practice and technical excellence through collaboration, coaching and mentoring
• Seek to continuously improve engineering capability in all aspects of the engineering lifecycle
• Help direct your team to support, maintain and improve systems that have been developed against a whole life principal

Whilst providing leadership to the Agile team/s you could be working with a wide range of technologies, such as: Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance, Operations, Sales, Customer Service), Azure DevOps, Azure services, Azure Functions and Logic Apps, C#, and ARM Templates.

What we’re looking for in our Lead Engineer:

• Experience in software engineering and industry best practice
• Experience in one or more of the following: Azure, Java, C#, Dynamics 365, Integration development
• Demonstrable ability to lead, coach and mentor engineering teams
• Experience in implementing new engineering techniques within development teams
• Technical delivery experience
