We are currently seeking a Managing Director to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Newton Abbot. As a Managing Director you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Teams to develop and accomplish objectives and deliver against the business strategy set. This is an exciting opportunity to really make a difference commercially within the business overseeing Operations and ultimately driving the company forward to achieve some ambitious growth targets.

Key duties and responsibilities....

  • Unify the team to execute with excellence.
  • Bring consistency and structure to the business to build solid processes and approach to ensure a focused methodology to problem resolution, process reengineering and client delivery.
  • Oversee all aspects of the business building an environment that enables the team to have the freedom to think and operate within a structured framework.
  • Be responsible for managing all hands-on operational aspects of the company facilitating replicable approaches to support our client's rapidly growing business.
  • Provide the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational tools, systems, and processes in place to effectively grow the business and ensure operational efficiency. This will be done through a trusting, empowering, convincing and energetic style.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Plan, develop and implement strategy for operational management and development to meet agreed organisational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales for both technical, sales and marketing functions.
  • Develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel required to enable efficiency, creativity, and growth.
  • Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales
  • Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
  • Liaise with managers to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes, and achievements.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance with the executive team
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal obligations, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
  • To be a coach and mentor to the team supporting and guiding their growth in the business.
  • To plan, develop, manage, review, and assess the key business processes to promote and develop efficiency.
  • To work closely with the SLT in building, monitoring, and reviewing development process and testing for solution stability and robustness.
  • Ensure the right team members are in place and are engaged in exciting work that develops them and the business.
  • To converse with customers, gather feedback, maintain, and strengthen internal delivery to maximise the customers experience and business efficiency.
  • Motivate and lead the whole team; cultivate skills and facilitate the interrelationships within the team.
  • Remain knowledgeable of the market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of the company’s market.
