The company seeks a dynamic sales & marketing professional with relevant applied domain experience drive revenue growth in the UK (focussing on the NHS & private markets plus collaborative programmes) with the potential to support other global markets as the business grows.
The purpose of the Medical & Scientific Liaison / Business Development Manager (MSLBD) role is to support & exp& the Company’s commercial activity, generating sustainable revenue, growth & a reputation as a leader in precision medicine providing high quality products & services that positively impact patient care pathways & economic outcomes.
The role will report to the Sales & Marketing Director, who has responsibility within Oxford Cancer Biomarkers (OCB) for all aspects of customer & partner relationships, including sales & marketing, including business development. The role will add value to OCB’s growth by driving revenue (both direct sales & through partnerships) & identifying new commercial opportunities & developing & implementing marketing & sales activities.
Core Duties: Sales & Marketing Strategy: Working with the Sales Director & the OCB team, support the implementation of the global commercialisation strategy for the OCB product & service portfolio, taking into account key partnership & customer opportunities.
Revenue generation: Responsible for delivering on-target product & sales revenues for the Company, within an initial focus in the UK on key NHS centres & private healthcare providers with a rapid expansion to international business opportunities including strategic business partnerships.
Budgets & forecast: Input into the preparation of budgetary & financial forecasts. Monitor sales & marketing performance in key territories using key metrics & prepare clear & concise reports for senior management.
Customer & partner relationships: Leverage medical/scientific liaison skills to develop & maintain highly productive relationships with key customers, market access partners & other key stakeholders.
Market insight: Provide applied knowledge to support the development of achievable, world-class Product & Service Requirements for the OCB portfolio, taking into account R&D, manufacturing, validation, regulatory, quality standards, intellectual property & competitive differentiation requirements on a global basis.
Communications: Develop & implement a global communications strategy, taking into account Company needs & opportunities.
General: Utilise Market Intelligence Systems pro-actively to support business development, marketing & customer support activities.
Support the OCB team in establishing complaints management systems & customer satisfaction metrics (e.g. NPS - Net Promoter Score).
Support key strategic projects, such as website update & partnership development. Additional duties as necessary.
Experience: 1. Proven working experience as a successful Medical / Scientific Liaison or Sales & Marketing within a dynamic start-up or blue-chip life-sciences / clinical diagnostics company. 2. Demonstrable experience in MSL / sales & marketing within the clinical diagnostics field, ideally specialising in oncology with product & service-led portfolio experience. 3. BSc in Life Sciences & management qualifications (or significant experience). 4. Comprehensive network of specialists & target clients within the oncology / pathology fields, particularly in the UK, with the ability to comm& the respect & engagement of senior / key opinion-leader clinicians & other healthcare professionals & translate active engagement into sustainable sales. 5. Experience in preparing forecasts & delivering on-target revenues. Experience in working customers & partners to develop compelling business proposals (incorporating health economics) to support platform adoption 6. Excellent sales & organisational skills. 7. Experience in working within a small, dynamic multi-functional team & international partners. 8. Experience in customer support / maintaining productive, long-term relationships.
Skills: Deal closer – developing strong client relationships that result in sustainable revenue, through developing a clear understanding of customer needs & collaborating to secure required evidence (health economics etc.) & support from all key stakeholders (finance managers, oncologists, pathologists etc.).
Strong team player: Ability to work with colleagues & external partners & providing commercial focus & other support as required.
