Ordnance Survey are currently looking for a Midweight User Experience Designer to join our team. At OS, we believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,442 - £36,990 per annum.

As ourMidweight User Experience Designer, you will be designing customer-facing interfaces, mapping tools and data-driven applications. This will involve working on design systems to allow Governments and businesses easy access to our data and APIs, building web-mapping interfaces for Governments and emergency services, and to enhance the experience of our own web estate.

With the support of your colleagues, you'll have the opportunity to broaden and widen your process skills.

Your responsibilities as our Midweight User Experience Designer will include:

  • Collaborating with a team of UX and UI Designers to support all aspects of the UX design lifecycle from research to implementation. To include the creation of journey flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes which are based around user needs
  • Communicatingwith users, developers, technical teams, and product owners to refine product flows and wireframes to the point they are ready for final design by a UI designer. Then see that design through the development process
  • Planning and implementing usability testing
  • Demonstrating and applying your deep understanding of responsive website and web-app interaction design and accessibility needs
  • Collaborating with content designers, UX designers, UI designers and technical teams to ensure final work meets our user needs and is positively supported internally through strong stakeholder management

What we’re looking for in our Midweight User Experience Designer:

We are looking for a self-motivated UX Designer who proactively uses their skills to help stakeholders solve complex problems.

  • Experience in user research, usability testing, Customer journey maps, Wireframing and Prototyping
  • Experience in delivering solutions to product owners and developers in a Sprint methodology environment
  • Passionate about understanding the customer and creating great digital user experiences
  • The ability to collaborate with stakeholders and developers on your design proposals is critical
  • Highly organised, combining forward planning with meeting tight deadlines to keep a range of stakeholders (and our customers) happy
  • Collaborative team-worker with great communication skills
  • Experience in using UX tools – day-to-day we mostly use Axure, Sketch, Figma, User Zoom
  • Proven commercial experience as a UX Designer – a minimum of 3 years
