As Process Engineer you will provide and drive process engineering knowledge, support and leadership across all operational sites and capital projects

The role will take ownership of process control philosophies, process specifications, process design calculations, process flows and process control systems; provide process engineering input in the design & commissioning of process improvement changes and lead certain Improvement Projects were appropriate. Working closely with the Operations Projects Manager the role will ensure process drawings are correct; and alongside the Electrical Engineer to control and develop the PLC and SCADA systems across sites.

Operations Process Engineer Responsibilities:

- To assist in driving continuous improvements in safety culture and standards across all Biogen operations
- Ensure all activities related to the role fully comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 45001, PAS 110 management standards
- To play a key role in the development of and adherence to Safe Systems of Work and Operating Instructions
- Ensure Biogen complies fully with all relevant process industry standards and regulations, implementing process safety methodologies as appropriate
- Assist the Operations Director in leading or providing process engineering support in Hazard and Operability Studies
- Take ownership of and lead the DSEAR assessment of all operational sites
- Provide and drive process engineering knowledge and leadership to drive business KPIs, providing process engineering support to the Operations team to understand and resolve process difficulties and bottlenecks
- Take ownership of and responsibility for process control philosophies, process specifications, process design calculations, process flows and process control systems
- Process Control – work with the Electrical Engineer to control and develop the PLC and SCADA systems on sites
- Process Drawings – take ownership of all Process and Engineering drawings
- Direct the work of the AutoCAD Engineer
- Work with the Operations Director, Central Operations and Senior Engineer in ensuring process drawings are up to date and correct
- Support the Central Operations Senior Engineer by providing process engineering knowledge, support and leadership on the design and Commissioning of Capital improvement projects, and leading certain projects where appropriate
- Ensure all process and engineering modifications under their control fully comply the Control of Change System
- Provide specialist process engineering input into the Control of Change system
- Travel routinely to all operational sites to review and assess issues and engineering and maintenance performance.

Operations Process Engineer Requirements:

- Safety conscious and aware of environmental impacts
- Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering degree or equivalent, preferably chartered
- Proven experience in process or chemical industries
- Proven knowledge and understanding of process design, calculations, specification and commissioning procedures
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Good understanding of Project Management processes
- Ability to analyse problems, assess risk profile, determine action, and develop solutions, communicating intentions and progress to all levels
- Conversant with DSEAR, ATEX and other Regulations, codes and standards applicable to the design, construction and operation of process plants.
- Experience in programming PLC and SCADA software is advantageous
- Experience in Continuous Improvement. Modern process and manufacturing techniques, such as Lean, 5S, DMAIC, FMEA, SMED, Value Stream Mapping is advantageous
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- NEBOSH or other safety qualifications desirable
- Experience of OHSAS 45001, ISO 9001 and 14001 management systems and following procedure and protocol
- Able to manage own time and apply relevant time management techniques to ensure timely delivery of projects
- Good quality clear technical report writing
- Prepared to travel regularly to all operational sites and have full Driving Licence
