An exciting opportunity has become available for a passionate and creative Press and PR Manager to join our Communications team. In this role you will be managing the press office and will act as subject matter expert for media and PR communications across specific segments, providing guidance and advice across UK and Ireland.

This is a busy and varied external communications role and to be successful you will be comfortable working at a fast pace, handling complex and sensitive information, and balancing the needs of competing priorities. You will also be sufficiently confident in your communications skills to act as company spokesperson with media and provide support and consultancy to senior stakeholders.

You will be joining a fantastic, dedicated team and will have the opportunity to work across various business segments.

Main Responsibilities
 
  • Handle both reactive media enquiries and proactive opportunities in order to protect and enhance corporate reputation, preparing written responses within tight deadlines
 
  • Act as media relations specialist for dedicated segments of the business
 
  • Manage comms relationship with public sector client
 
  • Identify opportunities to promote Sodexo initiatives, news and leadership positively in national, trade and regional media
 
  • Act as PR and media lead on projects and campaigns
 
  • Issues management preparation and activation
 
  • Operate as part of an integrated team giving consideration as to how campaigns and news will play out across all external channels including social media
 
  • Identify and develop strong relationships with national and trade journalists and industry counterparts
 
  • Provide out of hours crisis support and respond to out of hours media enquiries as required – a team rota is in place for this support
 
The Ideal Candidate
What’s essential:

  • Experience of managing or taking a key role in supporting a press office
  • Proven track record of providing media and PR advice and guidance to senior stakeholders and working within a large, complex business environment
  • Strong proactive and reactive media relations skills – including evidence of media relationships and a consistent track record of media coverage generation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Crisis and issues management skills, adept at handling sensitive situations
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritise when working in fast-paced environment
