The Screening Quality Assurance Service (SQAS) is part of the Health Improvement directorate within Public Health England. Screening identifies apparently healthy people who may be at increased risk of a disease or condition, enabling earlier treatment or informed decisions. National population screening programmes are implemented in the NHS on the advice of the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC), which makes independent, evidence-based recommendations to ministers in the 4 UK countries. PHE advises the government and the NHS so England has safe, high quality screening programmes that reflect the best available evidence and the UK NSC recommendations. PHE also develops standards and provides specific services that help the local NHS implement and run screening services consistently across the country.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and effective team member for the Screening QA Service East of England based at Fulbourn, Cambridge

As a QA Facilitator you will be required to assist in the coordination and oversight of the quality assurance of bowelscreening programme, stimulating and facilitating programme specific QA activity within the region.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • • contribute to the development of local bowel screening services while building and managing relationships with providers and commissioners of local screening programmes in the region
  • support senior QA staff in development of policy, methods and tools for quality assurance
  • provide support to local bowel screening services through regular communications and meetings, and assist in the delivery of training and networking opportunities

  • interpret data and information to monitor performance and highlight issues of concern.
