Location: Manchester 
An opportunity for a experienced LV electrical design engineer, with Rail experience.

Based in our Manchester office, the role is to join an established and growing team working alongside Building Surveyors, Civil, Structural Engineers and Project Managers on several rail infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

You must be dynamic and enthusiastic with good interpersonal and business development skills, with a broad experience in professional and project work within the rail industry fully conversant with electrical rail standards and submission procedures.

Will need to be competent in the use of industry standard electrical design software such as Amtech and lighting software (DIALux/Relux) and general office software applications and be familiar with AutoCAD/Revit.

What you'll be doing:

The post duties will include the undertaking of rail electrical design services on a local and national basis in accordance with the client's contract requirements, current regulations, British and rail standards.

Undertaking and preparation of rail designs/briefs, specifications, option reports, site inspection, commissioning and maintenance testing/certification, associated with a varied range of rail M&E Building Services and Infrastructure electrical services.

Including electrical services design and project management covering:

  • MV/ LV main distribution,
  • Lighting associated with the rail infrastructure,
  • Small power,
  • Life critical alarm, security and access systems,
  • Control and management systems.
What we're looking for:

  • An experienced Electrical Design Engineer familiar with the preparation of professional engineering designs and reports.
  • Formal education and training in electrical engineering with demonstratable experience in the sector.
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent level qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • This would suit an individual from a consultancy background.
  • Extensive design experience of electrical M&E design.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly and confident with the client.
  • Able to undertake LV electrical surveys and design calculations
