The Department of Design Manufacture and Engineering Management (DMEM) provides a unique offering of combining end-to-end multidisciplinary expertise from creative design, through engineering design, manufacture and management of the entire system.
Housing the UK’s Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), part of the UK’s High Value Manufacturing Catapult, appointees would be expected to work closely with industry and business in all aspects of research, teaching and knowledge exchange to support the delivery of high value manufacturing.
DMEM wishes to appoint individual academics or a group in Engineering Management who would work closely with other departments throughout the University and, in particular, the Strathclyde Business School.
DMEM seeks to recruit a Reader/Senior Lecturer who is highly motivated, who will help to strengthen and diversify DMEM’s Engineering Management activity as well as grow its international profile and identity. You will provide academic leadership, experience and skills in Engineering Management to support fundamental and applied research, teaching and knowledge exchange in this area.
To be considered for the role you will be educated to a minimum of PhD level in an appropriate discipline or have extensive relevant experience in addition to a Degree. You will have research experience and interests consistent with the strategic direction of the Department and experience of research leadership, including supervision of senior researchers in a University or industrial environment and management of research teams/projects/programmes. You will have experience of PhD/EngD research project supervision and teaching experience in Higher Education. Applicants should have a sustained body of published research in high quality publications demonstrating standards of excellence, a substantial track record of securing research funding, You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences, with an ability to negotiate successful outcomes. You will exhibit strongly developed people skills, with an ability to deal with a wide range of people, securing engagement and support, and a sense of common purpose. You will have the ability to operate as part of a team, providing appropriate leadership, and as an individual to work effectively towards department goals.
