The Banksy Ward at the Bristol Priory Hospital is a specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (CAMHS PICU) providing assessment, care and treatment for young people who have acute complex mental health. The Unit offers in-patient care alongside a therapeutic day programme and provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people to work through sometimes extreme mental health, emotional and psychological difficulties.
This post will offer the successful candidate a real opportunity for personal and professional development within a highly challenging environment – joining the Banksy Ward team will, we hope, inspire and challenge you, give you the experience and confidence to grow and form constructive professional relationships with colleagues and patients. As a Nurse on Banksy Ward, you will work under the direction of experienced practitioners, using essential medical, clinical and health care skills, whilst also having the opportunity to gain experience working in individual, group and family contexts.
Previous experience of working with young people is essential and candidates must have a genuine interest in working with this client group within an inpatient setting – PICU experience desirable. Candidates should also have the necessary interpersonal qualities to enable them to function effectively as part of a big multi-disciplinary team which includes Consultants, Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Teachers, Advocates and Parents. Candidates should have a high level of commitment and creativity, resilience and robustness, positivity and personal warmth, as well motivation and excellent team-working skills.
Where some jobs say that no day is the same, on Banksy, every day is for you to claim – professionally and personally. The Banksy team are a special bunch – always busy, good humoured and straight-talking, serious about care and supportive of their colleagues, in all circumstances.
