The Department of Population Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the London International Development Centre (LIDC), a collaborative initiative between seven University of London institutions, are recruiting a Research Fellow Data Management for the UKRI GCRF Action Against Stunting Hub. The Research Fellow Data Management will manage and implement processes related to the data collected, stored and analysed by the Stunting Hub.


 This will involve:

  •  Designing and developing an All-Hub database, including the underpinning hardware, software and middleware.
  •  Leading on the design, development and review of data management processes and documentation, validation, maintenance and support of study databases.
  •  Responsibility for liaising with academic colleagues to understand database requirements, producing database specifications and testing database functionality.
  •  To take responsibility for regularly monitoring compliance and data management procedures and other applicable requirements, as well as coordinating data management inputs during audits.

 The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in health data science/computer science, informatics and/or related fields in global health.


 Knowledge of data management systems and procedures, especially research data management practice and policy in the health sector, as well as proficiency in data visualizations are essential.


 Programming skills across a range of languages e.g. Python and databases from MySQL to CKAN is also desirable. Further particulars are included in the Job description.


 The Research Fellow Data Management will report to the Principal Investigator of the Hub. The post holder will be a member of staff of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and will work with the Hub core staff and in partnership with the administrations of the 18 Hub organisations. The Research Fellow Data Management will be a focal point of contact for Data Managers in country.


 The post is full time and available for immediate start. It is funded by the UKRI GCRF for 1 year. The salary will be on the Professional Support Scale, Grade 6, in the range £40,011-£45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at 20 Bloomsbury Square.
