The Data & Identity Directorate is a centre of excellence that supports data governance under the Data & Information Board; advises on complex issues of privacy, personal data and identity; leads strategic policy projects convening regulatory, technology, operational stakeholders; and drives operational compliance. It builds capability by recruiting and developing staff and engages across Whitehall to align Departmental and Government policies, establishing the fundamentals which will allow the organisation to exploit its data better in the future.

The Role of a Risk Manager
Your role in our team will be critical to enabling these missions. You will be responsible for kickstarting a new cross-departmental Data and Information Risk which is reported into the Risk and Data Committee and ultimately to Home Office ExCO. The strategic importance of this risk must be balanced with an effective and s ustainable data and information risk management service.  We are looking for people who are passionate about risk and data management and the positive impact data exploitation can have, be committed to the delivery of a quality service and collaborating across all areas of the Department to increase awareness of the importance of data and information.
You will be responsible for leading delivery of the Data and Information risk profile, supported by its governance and reporting structure. Communicating responsibilities, principles and expected behaviours that underpins good risk management.  This is an important position, with considerable scope to make a difference and develop your expertise in data and information risk management and corporate governance structures.

Typical Role Responsibilities: Risk Management Strategy, Processes and Procedures - Enacting the Risk Management strategy through effective use of risk processes and procedures in accordance with best practice, Departmental policy and the complexity of the change initiative. Ensures compliance with PD Risk and Issues strategies within DSA.
Stakeholder Engagement - Provide effective and efficient advice on Risks and Issues to staff within DSA. Develop a programme of regular risk and issue reviews with key stakeholders. Point of professional knowledge and expertise on PD Risk and Issue Management for DSA.
Identification, Analysis, Monitoring and Reporting of Risks and Issues – Responsible for facilitating the identification, analysis and monitoring of DSA Risks and Issues. Produces periodic and ad-hoc Risk and Issues reports to a standard template. Undertakes qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, as required.  Establish and maintains the Risk, Issues and Assumptions database and registers.
Build Service for risk management BAU
Identify exposure and mitigation across HO
Map reporting cadence and build reporting metrics/analysis into service delivery

Previous experience working with Enterprise Risk Management frameworks in government role

Qualification in risk management e.g., an Axelos ‘Management of Risk (MoR)’ Certification
