The Radiation-enhanced Immunotherapy Team is part of the Division of Radiotherapy and Imaging at the ICR and studies how solid tumours evade immune responses by generating suppressive barriers and subverting immune homeostatic mechanisms. Our main research focus is to determine how radiotherapy tilts the balance of immunostimulatory and immunosuppressive signals in the tumour microenvironment. Ultimately, we aim to identify pathways and biomarkers that predict response to radiotherapy/immunotherapy and to discover actionable targets for development of novel combination treatments for advanced cancers.
The Scientific Officer will work with a multidisciplinary team of basic scientists and clinicians to develop, optimize and apply assays and protocols to study immune responses in mouse and cell-based models. In addition, the Scientific Officer will analyse and organize storage of human tissue and blood samples from cancer patients.
Applicants will hold a BSc degree in biomedical sciences or equivalent degree in a relevant field and ideally have experience in working in the field of cancer immunotherapy.
The full salary range for the post is £26,220 – £36,000. Appointment is expected to be at the beginning of the scale which represents the market rate for the role but consideration will be given to experience and skills. Future progression is based on annual performance review.
