Suffolk County Council have an opportunity available for a Senior Accountant (Career Grade) to join our team based in Ipswich. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis (part time working will be considered for this role), and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,373 - £41,530 per annum, starting salary dependent on current level (pro rata if part time).
We are delighted to offer you a great opportunity to join the Suffolk County Council's Finance service as a Senior Accountant within our Adult and Community Services (ACS) Financial Management team.
We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent IT, communication and analytical skills.
This post is career graded depending on level of qualification and experience. To commence at a Grade 7 level, you should have a professional accreditation to a Chartered Accounting Body (i.e. CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW). We would also consider someone actively studying towards achieving this who would commence at a Grade 6, and with the possibility of study support.
Your role:
As a Senior Accountant, you will be expected to have a broad range of accounting knowledge and experience. Although you would be expected to be flexible and capable enough to work across different aspects of the wider Finance team, your role in the ACS team will involve working with senior management, budget holders and support staff within adult social care to deliver the core financial management functions of the Council i.e budget planning and setting, budget monitoring, completion of statutory returns to external bodies and financial closure of services at year end as well as ad hoc projects and tasks as required.
The team:
The ACS Finance Management team sits within the Corporate Services Directorate and is responsible for all service aspects of the Council’s financial activities. You will be an integral and key member of the team, reporting into one of the members of the Finance Leadership Team. We are a supportive and enthusiastic team who will offer help and guidance to get you settled in.
