The role is based at Woodhatch Place in Reigate, with the opportunity for remote working in addition.
Surrey County Council’s Emergency Management and Resilience Team are seeking a Senior Emergency Management Officer to join us as in providing an emergency planning service to all stakeholders in Surrey, so that we can respond to a major emergency effectively.
In this role, you will work as part of the team providing an emergency planning service to the Surrey Local Resilience Forum (SLRF) and its constituent groups, give guidance on the development of coordinated emergency response procedures, business continuity and safety planning for major events in the county.
About the Role
As a Senior Emergency Management Officer, you will not only provide a service to a number of districts and County Council services, but you will also (as a Unit expert) have a particular responsibility for an area of emergency planning for major events, within the working framework. As such you must be able to give authoritative advice and support to the wide range of organisations that the Unit works with.
In this role you will contribute to policy formulation, so you will need a general knowledge of most emergency planning and event safety issues. You will also act as a mentor to more junior colleagues in the team.
On occasions, the Emergency Management Team has to respond immediately (during and outside of working hours) to the demands of a crisis. During an emergency, the Senior Emergency Management Officer will advise Senior Officers in the County and District Councils on their response to a disaster.
