Senior Software Engineer, Platform
About the Role
We are looking for Senior Software Engineers to join us and play a key role in the design, build and testing of our secure, robust and scalable web hosting and data platforms. Our platform is a layer on top of core Open Source technologies such as Kubernetes, Istio, Airflow, dbt, running in Public Cloud. It is the glue that allows our teams to deploy into production environments 100s of times per day with the least amount of friction possible.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on all aspects of software engineering, from frontend and backend to infrastructure scripts and CLI’s. It’s important our systems stay up. You’ll be working on systems designed to tolerate failure. It’s equally important we know quickly when things go wrong, so you’ll be working on monitoring and alerting systems too. We believe all infrastructure should be written as code, so it is testable and repeatable. You’ll work with tools like terraform, helm, Kubernetes to make this happen. Problems come in all shapes and sizes, so you’ll be expected to debug core platform and infrastructure issues, as well as consulting with product teams to help solve problems that span into the application domain too. As we’re first and foremost an operational team, the environment can be very fast paced. You’ll need to be comfortable quickly context switching between operational concerns and feature development. There will be an element of on call required.
Everyone is jointly responsible for delivering the goals of the team, so there are plenty of opportunities for you to input based on your experiences, and drive direction and solutions. Comfortable talking about system design and architecture, you’ll also know how to get the best out of our tribe-led, multifunctional, agile working environment.
