Senior Underwriter - Motor: An exciting opportunity has become available at Ageas to join our Standard Motor Underwriting team as a Senior Motor Underwriter in our product 'pod'.

This is a key role within the Underwriting team, as a Senior Underwriter you will support our main objectives of growth and profitability, by being a subject matter expert on the motor business we are writing and the environment we are trading in.

As a Senior Underwriter you will work with our broker facing Motor Underwriters and Direct team to ensure the overall profitability and performance of the standard motor products as a whole. You will be responsible for delivering agreed performance metrics through the active management and control of these products. You will monitor, evaluate and review the product to ensure we continue to stay at the forefront of underwriting developments. You will present your findings to the team on a monthly basis.

Working in a dedicated team of 3, you will drive changes and new ways to evaluate risk through the assessment of data. You will research and recommend pricing & underwriting rules to optimise profitable growth, indemnity savings and footprint expansion. Portfolio management experience would be highly advantageous.

Strong numeracy and communications skills are essential for this role as you will spend much of your day analysing performance and presenting your findings, both verbally and in various report formats, to stakeholders with a range of familiarity with the topic at hand. nsert introduction (purpose)

Main Responsibilities as Senior Underwriter - Motor:

• Monitor and control existing schemes and accounts, analysing performance, profile of business, underwriting rules and documentation to achieve profitable performance and required GWP targets.
• Support the Underwriting and Pricing teams by recommending new enhancements or alterations to pricing or underwriting.
• Maintain regular contact with the broker facing team members to discuss and resolve issues and opportunities to a satisfactory outcome.

Skills and experience you need as Senior Underwriter - Motor

• Experience working in an Underwriting or Pricing environment is essential.
• A high degree of numeracy with a strong ability to analyse and interpret data.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain/present your technical findings to non-technical people.
• Able to build solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the business.
• Confident decision-maker who exhibits a willingness to take responsibility.
• Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, managing multiple work streams and stakeholders.
