Salary: £32,900 - £49,300 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Analyst specialising in Wind Farm Cost and Energy Optimisation to join the Technical Analysis team. You will be responsible for building, maintaining and running technical cost and energy analysis tools which will be used to inform key decisions on the design and development of SSE's multi-billion pound offshore wind farm development portfolio.

You will work with structural, mechanical, electrical engineers, construction and operations specialists, to develop technical cost models, as well as commercial and financial analysts to integrate these cost models into project-level decision-making. As part of the Technical Analysis team, you will also work closely with wind analysts and gain significant exposure to energy yield modelling, layout design, acoustic and operational data analysis. You will also perform in-house R&D on related topics.

Although the base location of this role is flexible, there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to work from our Glasgow office 2 or 3 times a week/attend key meetings, once we start to return to normal.

What do I need?

To be successful in your application you will be educated to degree level in physical science, engineering or other highly numerate degree. You will be a proficient programmer with a track record of finding code-based solutions to technical problems. Prior experience of technical cost modelling within an engineering environment would be of great benefit, as would experience in the offshore wind industry.

You'll have strong communication and interpersonal skills as it will be required to communicate to a variety of stakeholders and interact with multi-disciplined project teams. You'll be a clear, professional and impactful when it comes to presenting your analysis, with excellent report writing skills. Most of all, you'll be enthusiastic about working at the cutting edge of best-practice, seeking out innovative solutions to complex problems during a crucial period for the wind industry.
