The Day Job

NHS SBS provides a full portfolio of procurement services, including a wide range of framework agreements, consultancy and a complete procurement function – all delivered by expert teams using efficient and effective technology platforms.  We are passionate about efficient procurement and the benefits it brings. Combining NHS knowledge and experience with commercial know-how, we work with organisations to maximise their purchasing power to provide value-for-money procurement and ultimately, improved patient care.

In this exciting role you will be the main point of contact for the Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), working closing with the business to identify and on-board SME’s to the project. Taking the lead to create and maintain the project reporting on work package delivery plans, documentation and content.  Correlating reports on working group and work package activity against project deliverables. Alongside developing and delivering all non-system and technical work package activities.

Key Responsibilities


  • To establish fully enabled business operations capable of supporting the client’s processes and desired business outcomes.
  • To ensure all projects are managed to the agreed requirements, delivering to timescales, budget, acceptance criteria, quality criteria, contractual commitments and agreed service levels.
  • To establish and agree project acceptance criteria with the Service Director and the Client. 
  • To ensure that the project is being managed in accordance with the appropriate methodology or agreed processes and procedures
  • Strong extensive experience managing both procurement at category management / leadership level and procurement change programmes, focusing on process, systems and procurement tools change. For example managing change or implementation of P2P, S2C, S2P solutions
  • To manage the project in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • To ensure implementation of effective governance processes. 
  • To ensure appropriate and timely reporting and escalation to the Client Director, Client (project board), line management and all service suppliers.
  • To identify and manage risk and take responsibility for reporting risks.
Essential Skills

  • Excellent in all aspects of business change (processes, methodologies, change control, project scoping, project planning etc.)
  • Strong extensive experience managing both procurement at category management / leadership level and procurement change programmes, focusing on process, systems and procurement tools change - for example managing change or implementation of P2P, S2C, S2P solutions
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of modern techniques used in problem resolution 
  • Commercially astute
  • Good networking skills 
Desirable Skills

  • Sufficient IT/Technical knowledge 
    Public sector / NHS experience
