Purpose of the Role:

As a hybrid Project Manager/ Business Analyst you will provide a partnering service to senior business stakeholders to assist with all aspects of change and transformation delivery

Job Description:

The PM/Business Analyst is expected to work through the full lifecycle of both business and technology projects but will focus on just one or two phases at any one time in order to build understanding, experience, skills and confidence. Responsibility for Project management and business analysis as follows

Project Management

  • Leads the project through the project life cycle to meet the project objectives within scope, budget, and schedule constraints
  • Owns communication with the Implementation Lead, IT, Finance and HR Business Partners and other project team members and in partnership with them, to stakeholders of the project regarding project status, milestone dates, performance expectations, strategic issues, and project direction
  • Works with the Portfolio Lead and Sponsor(s) to identify stakeholders and appropriate escalation paths and works within the defined channels
  • Administers, facilitates, and manages appropriate project processes and documentation - including project change management, project planning and scheduling, risk/issue management, communication, etc.
  • Monitors and controls team performance so that all processes and deliverables are completed and approved pursuant to the Project Management policy and standards
  • Ensures project team members understand their roles, and that role definition is appropriately leveraged to maximise performance
  • Monitors progress of the project against the plan. Identifies and informs the Portfolio Lead of variances, inefficiencies, bottlenecks and resource conflicts
  • Manages project investment approved at the investment committees
  • Understands and manages inter-project and production/release dependencies
  • Manages integrated cross functional design, build and delivery activities
  • Coordinate the preparation / readiness of business and project teams for transition /go lives
Business Analysis 

  • Concept: Help to define and communicate a shared understanding of the business vision, strategy, and the roadmap to a future state
  • Validate business 'concepts’ / 'project ideas’ by ensuring desired outcomes and benefits are well articulated
  • Build strong relationships with IT to ensure there is a common understanding of the business vision and the technology roadmap to achieve it
  • Produce viable options for delivery of 'project concepts’ with an impact assessment including potential technology solutions, cost, benefit tracking proposal, ROI, impact to people and organisation, impact on culture, business acceptance criteria, resource model, risks
  • Produce business requirements document and achieve agreement and sign-off
  • Produce as-is/to-be process models
  • Ensure IT resource have a shared and complete understanding of the business requirements. Review technical artefacts e.g. solution design documents, technical specs, data models
  • Produce a Quality & Business Assurance Plan to ensure the business sponsor has acceptance criteria and activities to assure the project throughout the lifecycle and at final delivery
  • Work with business stakeholders to produce a cultural change plan to identify changes required to people, structure, roles, ways of working
  • Work with business stakeholders to produce the business readiness approach to identify key business activities required to be ready for implementation
  • Work with business stakeholders to produce a post-deployment change adoption plan to ensure required change is bedded in
  • Assist in execution of business readiness and cultural change plans
  • Monitor change progress, e.g. of business process improvements and recommend change interventions if necessary
  • Coordinate user acceptance test and manage defect triage
  • Assist in execution of training/knowledge management plans
  • Assist in execution of early life support plans
  • Coordinate benefit tracking plans & collate performance measurements
  • Assist in execution of post-deployment change adoption plans
Key Role Accountabilities:

Provide analysis and elicitation skills that will help shape the business future state, and then identify and carry forward change interventions that will enable the future state, either through pure business improvement activity, or technology implementation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven track record of project & business analysis delivery.
  • Enjoys working with technology, data and systems and can understand how these might be employed by the business community. Has worked with some aspect of business improvement, Strong skills in Microsoft Office
  • Has a good degree in a financial, business or technology field
Person Specification:

  • Mature approach to handling challenge at Executive Director level and below
  • Knowledge of project management delivery methods and frameworks including business analysis methods
  • Expertise in project governance and controls
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Negotiating, influencing, effective challenge and gaining commitment
  • Broad business perspective and acumen
  • Financial acumen to support the challenge of business cases and financial controls
