Obrizum Group Ltd. is seeking a versatile Chief Data Scientist with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), applied machine learning and predictive analytics to join our growing software engineering team. Our scale-up enterprise learning software company needs a data savvy engineer who can write novel machine learning algorithms and produce exciting new predictive analytics tools which will help large organisations better map, understand and develop their knowledge and skill capital. All applicants to this role must have an excellent knowledge of state-of-the-art data science practices and principals as well as a strong grasp of the underlying statistical and mathematical fundamentals.

Ideally, you’ll come with a proven track record in a corporate environment with experience building machine learning and predictive analytics tools for digital platforms, whether those be web apps, mobile apps or desktop software. As an enterprise educational technology (EdTech) business, we are looking for someone with a passion and curiosity for proactively improving their technical know-how and a strong desire to find faster and more efficient ways of build understanding and skills.

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced data science leader with a strong background in statistics, machine learning/A.I. and predictive analytics to ensure that more of our R&D activities can flow efficiently into our live enterprise learning platform. Crucially, we are particularly interested in finding someone with the independent thinking and initiative required to bring uncommon new value to the large companies and organisations we work with through the application of cutting-edge data science. Ideally, you will have come across as an experienced data science leader and problem solver with excellent lateral thinking and communication skills.

As part of this role, you will:

• be joining an interdisciplinary team comprised of academics and senior software engineers’ programmers who have worked at University of Cambridge, King’s College London, UCL, CSIRO, Cognizant, Xerox and Google DeepMind.
• developing our machine learning technologies and guiding their application within the OBRIZUM enterprise learning platform.
• Researching and developing statistical and deep learning models for content organisation, personalised learning and data analysis
• Running analytical experiments and evaluating models with theoretical and practical approaches
• Helping to progress and develop the Company's Intellectual property portfolio, though patenting and other routes.
• Support our engagement leaders and delivery teams by providing internal expertise and designing innovative solutions for real customer problems.

Skills, Experience, Qualification 
Essential:
• Master’s Degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related field
• Strong computer science background
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms in particular - probabilistic modelling, Bayesian optimisation.
• Expertise in text-mining and Natural Language Processing
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in the sector
• Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modelling skills
• Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skill
• Extensive experience in numerical programming with Python and TensorFlow
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods

Desirable:
• Image processing knowledge using machine learning and deep learning
• Exposure on AWS ML and AI services
• Comfortable with SQL
• Confidence with JIRA
• Knowledge of Scikit-learn and/or Pandas
• Exposure to functional programming - any languages (we really like Clojure / Clojurescript)
Personal Attributes
• Enthusiastic, with a desire to learn and expand knowledge 
• Analytical and methodical, with an eye for detail and a desire to find problems and an ability to communicate findings effectively
• Able to work under pressure and to prioritise and work within tight time scales in order to meet deadlines
• Self-starter able to make progress with minimal supervision, but seeks help when required
• Flexible approach to work, including managing changing priorities
• Excellent communication skills including fluent spoken and written English 

Personal Circumstances
• We need you to have the right to live and work in the UK.
• The good news: Whilst a UK based company, we’re licensed to hire from outside the EU including the U.S. We can help you with a Tier 2 Visa Sponsorship but would expect you to relocate to Cambridge in the U.K. We’ll help you through every step of the process and cover some of the relocation costs.

Salary
Competitive salary, depending on experience:
• Base: £75-90k 
• Discretionary Bonus c. £10k 
• Relocation Package c. £5k
• Potential for stock options
