This is exciting times for us with a number of exciting and ground-breaking integrations and IT infrastructure transformations to undertake. We are a high performing and highly engaged team that has a key vacancy to help us achieve the transformations we will undertake and maintain our goal of providing a leading, flexible and reliable IT Infrastructure service provision to the Ardonagh Group.

We are recruiting for a Cloud Architect to join our team working within an existing team of architects covering a range of specialisms. You will report to the Head of IT Infrastructure. The Cloud Architect should have significant experience with O365/Azure and IAAS infrastructure. This experience should include having experience of governance and technical assurance, challenging vendors and ensuring solution designs are fit for purpose. The role is a full-time role reporting to the Head of IT Infrastructure. The role will be working UK core business hours and be experienced in collaborating with UK based teams as well as off-shore technical teams. They should be confident and able to project confidence in decisions.

Cloud Architect Responsibilities

  • Be the technical expert for Cloud services in Ardonagh. Ardonagh has a policy of Microsoft first so principally this will be O365, Azure and IAAS infrastructure.
  • Be a principal member of the Ardonagh Design Authority validating and authorizing changes.
  • Take an independent view and challenge vendors and request to ensure they are in line with our policies and architectural principles
  • As an administrator of our Azure environment be undertaking and/or directing the following activities as needed: 
    • Subscription design EA, Azure (implementation), Compute, network, storage, security and monitoring
    • Authentication and identity management of on and off -prem SAAS and group resources
    • Azure integration technology and PAAS services
  • Be responsible for the Azure HLD and LLD’s and Solution Designs ensuring our Azure environment is documented and changes are updated to it.
  • Research solutions through internal and external knowledge base as needed.
  • Provide suggestions for continual improvement.
Cloud Architect Skills & Experiences

Some, or all, of the below:

  • Significant knowledge and hands on experience with Azure.
  • Significant knowledge and hands on experience of O365
  • Significant knowledge and hands on experience of IAAS applications
  • General on Premise and Azure Active Directory Domain Services knowledge and experience
  • Experience creating solution designs
  • Experience setting and maintaining Architectural Standards
  • Experience in Subscription Design
  • Experience in Azure implementation
  • Experience in Compute, Network, Storage, Security and monitoring.
  • Experience in Authentication and Identity Management of on and off prem SAAS and group resources
  • Experience working with vendors to leverage their knowledge, challenge and ensure controls and governance are maintained.
  • Experience of monitoring industry best practice and advancements, evaluating these and making insightful recommendations to move forward the
  • Experience of Azure integration technology and PAAS services
  • General SCCM administration knowledge and experience
  • General Exchange Online administration knowledge and experience
  • General SQL administration knowledge and experience
  • General Networking knowledge
  • General IT Security knowledge and experience
  • General DFS knowledge and experience
  • General Active Directory Federated Services knowledge and experience
  • Service related focus with the ability to place yourself in the position of the customer to understand their concerns and issues
  • Able to form and direct matrix teams to fulfil objectives, confident in taking briefs and turning them into reality.
We are expecting to complete the recruitment process through a combination of telephone and video conference interviews due to current face to face restrictions. We are also experienced in on-boarding New Joiners during the current Covid-19 remote working situation.

This role will have an element of out of hours and weekend working as needed. Typically, once a month.
