The day job
Currently looking for a Lead Service Designer for a unique opportunity to work within an established project team. The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary teams by facilitating new and useful ideas for services or service improvements, working closely with researchers, analysts and developers to iteratively improve services for users. You will have experience with and be comfortable working with agile development teams comprised of both Sopra Steria and customer staff. 
Joining the team in a senior position, you will have an entrepreneurial spirit, be resourceful, forward thinking and committed. Our digital people embrace these qualities and are passionate and positive even with the most complex issue to solve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and mentor a growing team of Service Designers, supporting their individual development and wellbeing
  • Reflect on and improve our Service Design discipline, shaping the tools and approaches we use on a regular basis
  • Be an active member of the design team’s leadership, supporting the development of the team and contributing to its strategic growth and direction
  • Take a lead role on contracts, facing off to clients and shaping the direction and execution of projects
  • Contribute to the creation of case studies, tender responses and client proposals, to help showcase the team and bring new work in

Required skills
You need to have:

  • Experience within a similar role and strong work samples which demonstrate your process and the finished project
  • Ability to work collaboratively with experts in UX and digital design to deliver the best results
  • Possess an expert level designer with exposure to a variety of tools
  • Driven, hardworking and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Research Standards – Contributes to the development of organisational methods and standards for user research.
  • Data analysis – Collects and is able to analyse complex data related to people’s behaviours, needs and opinions across large projects or programmes.
  • Generates insights – Supports synthesis of findings and the creation of insights, reports and presentations to inform decision making and drive actions at a senior project level.
  • Prioritise requirements – Provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements from user needs based and business requirements on evidence from research.
  • Communicate findings – Can synthesise and articulate research findings clearly and effectively. Identifies appropriate opportunities for publication and dissemination of research findings. 
  • Develops and shares practical demonstrations of research findings. Presents papers at conferences, contribute material of publication quality, and presents reports to clients.
  • Research Practice – Is confident working with a range of users, in different contexts, e.g. one-to-one interviews, workshops, focus groups, ethnographic research.
It would be great if you had:

  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of Wireframe, Balsamiq, UXPin etc
