Computer Science and Applied Computing Subject Area

This subject area provides a range of pre-undergraduate, undergraduate, postgraduate and short courses in the disciplines of Computer Science, Computing, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security and Data Analytics. Our aim is to equip our diverse students with the academic, technical and workplace skills necessary to enter the employment market. The Cyber Security Research Centre, with its dedicated facilities, plays a significant role in our student and research centred strategy.

ABOUT THE POST

The School of Computing and Digital Media at London Metropolitan University is
currently recruiting for a Lecturer in Computing to undertake teaching on
undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Computer Science and Applied
Computing subject area with an emphasis on developing a creative teaching
environment to support the student learning experience.

You will contribute to teaching, assessment and associated administration in a wide range of disciplines within the subject area, preferably in Programming, Applications Development, Emerging Technologies and Databases. You will be expected to prepare, deliver and assess course work, assignments, examinations and project work and provide tutorial guidance to students, working alongside the teaching team. You will assist in the development and deployment of retention strategies which enhance student experience, retention, progression and achievement on the relevant courses.

THE CANDIDATE

You will be a graduate with a BSc/MSc in a Computing-related field. 
You will have: 
• Experience and knowledge of teaching on mainstream Computer Science courses.
• Knowledge of methodologies and technologies for designing and developing information systems in a variety of development environments.
• Excellent practical skills in toolkits used in various systems development environments, with an ability to engage with supporting staff.
• An interest in engaging with employers for Enterprise initiatives.
• A genuine interest in supporting students in innovative and engaging ways.

For this challenging and demanding role you must be highly motivated, passionate about education and able to initiate and develop ideas and opportunities in teaching, learning and research. You will be a confident communicator able to relate to the student population and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
