This is a great time to join the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as they fund an important investment in research infrastructure to maximise the potential of administrative data as a resource for research - Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK).

ADR UK aims to engage government and academic communities in innovative and impactful research to address major societal challenges by releasing the potential of the UK’s wealth of administrative data.


Purpose

The ADR UK Programme Management Office provides programme, project and change management together with business analysis support, leading the design, implementation and embedding of change across ADR UK to deliver its vision and realise its strategic objectives. 


The Project Manager will lead and manage projects and project teams on a day-to-day basis, with a focus on the ADR England portfolio. This will be a consortium of universities and Whitehall departments who, along with ONS, will deliver research projects that use English or UK-wide administrative data. They will be responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of their projects to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. The Project Manager has a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints
  • Monitoring delivery against the business case, in order to justify the continuation of projects in terms of benefits, value for money and risk
  • Track delivery within budget, and recommend how financial and other resources should be allocated between projects, avoiding any potential conflicts
  • Identify and monitor project risks and issues
  • Ensure Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables
  • Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned, as set out in the Benefits Realisation Strategy
  • Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making
  • Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships to influence, change and impact decisions 
  • Create and present a compelling vision, set clear direction that motivates others
  • Able to work in an environment of uncertainty and continual change
About you

You will have experience in working in complex project environments, or qualification in a recognised Project Management methodology. You will be able to evidence an understanding of Project Methodologies and lifecycles as well as evidence how to manage, plan, monitor and coordinate projects or change activities.

You will also need to be able to communicate with multi-level stakeholders and experience of working both as a member of a wider team, or as a specialist or workstream lead in a small team.

You will have excellent written communication skills, including a good working knowledge of MS Office packages.
