 Our Public Health service is dedicated to helping the people of Norfolk to be able to live in healthy places, promote healthy lifestyles and preventing ill-health. Our transformation agenda is a key County Council priority focused on prevention, reducing health inequalities and influencing healthy public policy.

As a Public Health Officer, you will deliver public health projects aligned to either primary prevention and public health policy, or the commissioning of public health funded services; using a recognised project management framework to contribute to priorities of the council and the Public Health strategy for Norfolk. You will hold a diploma in Public Health or equivalent level of experience in a related area.

 We have several opportunities for Public Health Officers across the following areas:
 
 

Prevention & Policy, gathering evidence and promoting knowledge and information in both the development of primary prevention strategies and public health policy across the priority areas of People; Inequalities; and Places.

 Commissioning of public health services, holding a portfolio of services in either our Children & Young People or Adults work programmes and leading the commissioning cycle on behalf of public health, including strategic planning; development of specifications/KPIs; market engagement; capacity & demand planning; and monitoring & evaluation.

 As a Public Health Officer Apprentice, you will support the public health service, making a direct contribution under close direction and supervision. There will be a rotational element to the role to increase your knowledge across the areas of commissioning; prevention & policy; and the Norfolk Outbreak Control Service, working alongside public health colleagues to inform and contribute to our response to COVID-19. You will hold either a minimum of 2 A2 level qualifications at grade C or higher, or an equivalent qualification such as a Level 3 NVQ. As part of your apprenticeship you will undertake the Public Health Practitioner Level 6 qualification, and upon completion you will be eligible to register as a public health practitioner.
