As a Senior Automation Test Engineer, you will be part of a small to medium-sized team working on a variety of different projects. You will be reporting directly to CTO/QA Lead and will be based within the office based in Swindon. The role will offer you an exciting opportunity to work within a young and expanding company with prospects of working on a variety of different projects.
What you will do
Working closely with the CTO/QA lead to apply the overarching QA strategy
Trialling complex requirements from product owners, developers and business stakeholders
Setup, maintain and enhance test automation frameworks for both mobile and web applications
Provide QA governance to the development teams ensuring appropriate testing coverage is taking place
Maintaining QA automation infrastructure by working closely with the platform engineering team
Report defects in a clear manner and ensured they are triaged according to given SLA’s
Conduct regular pre-release and post-release testing
Reduce regression time by automating test cases
Work with back-end, front-end and platform engineering colleagues
Working closely with the UX/Product team to help them understand user's behaviours
Delivering open forum sessions on topics relating to QA for the wider team
Key responsibilities & duties
Structured test techniques to derive appropriate test coverage and drive efficiency in test
Functional and/or Non-functional testing
Appropriate certification in test methods and practices e.g. ISTQB/ISEB
Understanding appropriate test approaches for various system topologies such as Cloud, client-server, mainframe, event-driven architectures.
Knowledge and experience of End to End software development cycles including:
Experience of working in collaborative and agile teams
Understanding of traditional, waterfall development modes
Production of test evidence and associated artefacts to support quality
Technical expertise including:
Coding ability (e.g. Java, Javascript(jest), Python(pytest,doctest), C#, Typescript) to support the creation and maintenance of automation frameworks
Knowledge of databases and expertise in structured querying to support testing.
Tools such as Selenium, SOAP UI/Ready API, Eggplant, Saucelabs, BrowserStack, JIRA, TFS, GIT, Cucumber
Good verbal and written communication
The ability to consider the business impact of technical changes and make risk assessments
A track record in fault analysis, diagnosis and resolution
Desired Skills
Exposure to: Zephyr, X-ray, API testing (i.e. Soap UI/Postman)
Understanding of Performance Testing, Cross Browser Testing, Usability Testing, Operational Testing
Experience of working with 3rd party systems and organisations
Education & Qualifications
Ideal Candidate should have Bachelor’s/Masters degree in Computer Science, with a minimum of 10+ years’ experience working within the field of Software Testing.
