The Department of Computing & Informatics has been offering courses in this well-established subject area for over 20 years and is renowned for producing not only highly employable graduates (the Guardian having noted specifically our reputation for providing courses which equip students with the skills for the profession), but also graduates of high esteem and recognition.

The Department has a diverse offering across a number of areas, including cyber security, forensic computing and security, networking and IoT, digital health, and IT management https://www.bournemouth.ac.uk/about/our-faculties/faculty-science-technology/our-departments/department-computing-informatics. There are well established interdisciplinary research groups which map closely to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes: Machine Intelligence Group (MIG), Engineering and Social Informatics Research Group (ESOTICS), Human Computer Interaction Research Group (HCI), Smart Technology Research Group (STRG), and Cyber Security Research Group (BUCSR). 

We are seeking an individual with a track record in one or more of the following areas:

- Data Science 
- Machine Learning / Deep Learning
- Computational Intelligence
- Natural Computing / Nature-Inspired Search and Optimisation
- Computer Vision
- Natural Language Processing

The candidate should possess experience in participating in research grant applications and research projects and maintain a good understanding of the Research Excellence Framework and Teaching Excellence Framework.

We have a strong team-based working style and we support new academics in a friendly and collaborative environment and expect them to be excellent team players and communicators. 

You will be qualified to Doctoral level or be able to demonstrate the ability to create and disseminate knowledge at an equivalent level and the capability to convert this knowledge into a doctorate in a maximum of 3-5 years from date of appointment. You will be research active and committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
