What is the Role?

The Transmission team is responsible for delivering projects across the North of Scotland. We are looking for an experienced and capable Overhead Line Site Construction Manager to successfully lead in the safe delivery of projects on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be to oversee all construction work on a critical OHL project to accommodate the connection of the new Alyth 275/400kV Substation in Perthshire. The works will involve the construction of new High Voltage (275kV) Towers, as well as a complex programme of works to reprofile and upgrade the East Coast Onshore 275kV OHL network, stretching from Kintore to Kincardine and from Alyth to Tealing / Westfield. The successful candidates will, as a key member of the project team, be responsible for the delivery of this significant and major project and must therefore be experienced in overseeing all aspects of a Transmission Overhead Line project including Tower foundation works, planning and construction of new Towers, Civil works to construct access tracks, Landowner liaison to facilitate access to all work areas ensuring that the programme is maintained, Rigorous monitoring and tracking of all work activities being undertaken by the Co, as well as clear and concise reporting to inform and support the SSEN Project Manager.

- Responsible for ensuring site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation, you will liaise with SSE staff, landowners and contractors, helping to maximise project team effort.

- As a great communicator, you will develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers, stakeholders and the community.

- You will provide support to the Project Manager by providing efficient and accurate reports, represent the Project Manager at site meetings and take the lead coordinating role in aspects of the project site delivery including enabling activities, liaison with 3rd parties, commissioning and Operations interfaces.

For this role, experience in the construction and delivery of HV Transmission (132kV and above) overhead lines is preferred.

What do I need?

The Overhead Line Site Construction Manager must have experience of large HV electricity infrastructure projects to be considered for this role. You should have demonstrable experience and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation practices including CDM regulations. Furthermore, Quality Management experience is essential, as you will be proactively monitoring the quality of the site works and application of the control processes to ensure 'right first time'.

A history of reporting, management and personal responsibility in the delivery of large capital projects is a must. It is also important to have a background in Transmission Overhead Lines.
