Harris Clapham Sixth Form is looking to appoint an experienced, qualified leader as its inaugural Assistant Principal.
We are looking to appoint a talented and experienced sixth form practitioner who will work with the Executive Principal in establishing the sixth form. There will also be support from the Central Harris Sixth Form team. Perhaps this is your first leadership role or maybe you are more experienced and looking for a new opportunity to grow and develop your skillset.
This is an exciting leadership position that would suit a highly motivated middle leader seeking a senior leadership post within a supportive, friendly, and forward-thinking academy team. Whether you are an ambitious middle leader looking for promotion into your first leadership role, or an existing Assistant Principal, we want to hear from you.
Succession planning is a key part of our success as a Federation, and we believe that we are at the forefront of developing the next generation of leaders. We can help prepare you for your next senior leadership challenge, investing in your knowledge and expertise through regular support, coaching, and a wide range of professional development and training.
You will have a wealth of opportunities to develop as a leader with the Harris Federation. We can offer you a range of bespoke courses and qualifications through our Teaching School, including our Aspiring Leaders NPQH for aspiring principals.
What we are looking for
We look for a talented individual who wants to be a part of transforming education in London and helping create exceptional places of learning. The successful candidate will have:

• Successful management experience as a head of department (that includes Level 3 provision) or an existing senior leader ready for a new challenge
• The ability to think strategically and the vision to manage change
• The ability to motivate and lead students and staff, while working collaboratively as a member of our team
• Flexibility, resilience and creativity in getting the sixth form off to the best possible start.

Our vision of 'Be the best' will apply equally to staff and students. Our building will have excellent facilities, all specifically designed to meet the needs of a sixth form curriculum.
Our values focus on Courage, Confidence and Commitment. These will underpin all our work. The academy will also have a particular focus on leadership, that is taking every opportunity to ensure students identify and develop their leadership potential.
Our website is beginning to take shape - please have a look at www.harrisclaphamsixthform.org.uk
Located within easy reach of both Clapham Common and Brixton underground stations, Harris Clapham Sixth Form is at the heart of Lambeth. We will be situated on Kings Avenue (on the site of the previous Territorial Army building on SW4). Construction is well under way and scheduled to finish in the summer of 2021.
Sam Hainey is the Executive Principal of the academy, he also oversees Harris Clapham, a separate school for students in Years 7 to 11, a short walk from the Sixth Form academy. While the two academies will be separate schools, there will be some natural opportunities for both to work together, for example, sixth form students mentoring and working with students in Years 7 to 11.
