Would you like to play a key role in the installation, configuration and support of a wide variety of Engineering Software Applications and their infrastructure? We currently have a vacancy for a Lead Application Support Engineer at our site in Warton.
As a Lead Application Support Engineer joining the Application Environment Support Team you will be primarily assisting in the delivery, configuration and maintenance of the of Atlassian software toolset to the Air division of BAE Systems. You will also be supporting CAD products, PLM Systems, Developer tools (e.g. Git, Jenkins and Bugzilla), High-Performance Computing Service and Server-side technologies, such as web and database servers for these applications.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a quickly expanding team that is supporting a range of BAE Systems Projects including the next-generation Tempest Project. You will have the opportunity to join at the early stages of this team which will allow for a lot of scope for learning and developing skills not just in the support of the software and its underlying infrastructure, but also the development and configuration of those applications. Due to the rapid expansion of the team and opportunities for development it can provide it could also lead to progression within the team or wider BAE Systems business.
Your main responsibilities as a Lead Application Support Engineer will involve:
Installation of Atlassian suite products such as Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket. This includes database creation and the setup of web applications, installation of licenses, etc. Typically, these applications utilise Windows Server and Windows SQL Server.
Documentation of the build standard for each application installation and ongoing maintenance of that documentation.
Technical support of the Atlassian suite of applications for the various instances used across the Air business.
Responding to support tasks logged via the Service Now incident system and working to defined service level agreements.
Providing technical expertise to new needs from the Engineering business, typically involving Investigation and implementation of technology improvements such as high availability, zero down time upgrades or new applications and add-ons to applications.
Over time the scope of the role will expand beyond installation and support to include the development and configuration of the Atlassian toolset (primarily Jira).
Your skills and qualifications:
Application installation and configuration experience
Use of Desktop or Server operating systems - Ideally Microsoft Windows or Windows Server but Unix or Linux also considered
Application support experience - Working to service level agreements, dealing with customers, following change process.
Excellent IT Knowledge in one or more of the following Key Technologies:
Experience of the installation or configuration of Web applications
Installation and configuration of Web servers such as Apache, JBOSS, Tomcat, Microsoft IIS
Database experience - Use of databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc.

Salary: £39,498 + Dependent on experience
