1st and 2nd line engineer responsible for implementation and maintenance of Integrated Communications and Control Systems, both on-site and remotely. Supporting Field Service Engineering teams. As a 2nd Line Support Engineer you will be part of a dedicated team help us to support and maintain operational service for our DSX/Vision suite of products across the Maritime & Coastguard Agency sites in UK. Location - The role is primarily a technical service desk role based in Fareham however, you will be expected on occasion to work from other MCA locations.
Security Clearance requirement - Must be eligible to successfully gain SC Level / NPPV
Working Shift Pattern - 2 x days 07.00 - 19.00, 2 x nights 19.00 - 07.00, 4 days off. 24/7/365 shift pattern Full UK Driving License What you'll be doing :
• Triage - resolution of incident, configuration and support of Capita's DSX & Vision product suite of solution/s at both hardware and software levels on both server and client platforms. • Fault finding Capita's DSX & Vision product suite of solution/s at both hardware and software levels. • When required, create, review and update Capita Engineering documentation, for example workplans, work instructions and technical guides • You will work professionally in liaison with several 3rd party providers and internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather / provide information required to complete the tasks at hand. • The role will involve extensive customer contact on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication and interaction / service. • The role will require working both in a team and, potentially autonomously where projects dictate a limited engineering requirement. An increasing level of autonomy is typically achieved after some time in post and suitable experience has been gained. • Complete all activities within set deadlines and report appropriately any difficulties to achieve SLA/delivery milestones.
What we're looking for:
• Educated to HND/HNC level or relevant industry experience with a professional service desk experience at either a 1st or 2nd line level. • Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving • Proven experience administering and working with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server up to 2016 • Working knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL • Experience of communication systems including Radio and Telephony systems • Practical experience in TCP/IP network support including routers, switches and firewalls • Proven knowledge and experience of virtualisation environments (Hyper-V or VMware) • MS Business Applications experience including Excel, Visio, Word • Excellent customer service skills • Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
Desirable Skills :
• Basic understanding of VOIP / SIP • Good Presentation skills • VPN/RDP experience • Knowledge of Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS Manager) • Experience of ITIL system lifecycle workflow • Clustering experience / Knowledge • Lan/Wan experience / Knowledge • Telephony experience (Cisco UCCE/Avaya Blue/Avaya Red/DSx/Mitel/Shortel/Asterix) / Knowledge
