The post available within the Colleague of Health and Life Sciences is sponsored by industry. The post is available initially for a term of 1 year with possible extension to 2 years subject to satisfactory progress of the project as determined by the sponsor.
The appointed biochemist/cell biologist will work in a team including both biochemists and medicinal chemists which has the objective of developing novel small molecule inhibitors which can be eventually used as drugs for the treatment of chronic lung disease. As a biochemist/cell biologist member of the team your duties will be involved in the biochemical and biological testing of the new potential drugs in both in vitro and cell and tissue models.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in Biochemistry and/or Cell biology and post doc experience working in a biochemistry/cell biology area. Experience in enzyme analysis, tissue culture, statistical analysis and project reporting and ideally experience in immunochemical analysis of cells. Experience in Western blotting and high throughput enzyme assays would be an advantage, but training is available, if needed.
