The Role of the Senior Data Analyst 

Consults and supports IT in the development and application of projects, policies and processes, IT strategy, systems, and programme of work. To manage and coordinate activities and participate in all aspects of the full project and systems lifecycle, ensuring the products implemented add value to the business and contribute to, or influence the strategic direction of the business. 
Provides guidance on accessibility, retrievability and protection of electronic information, whilst supporting the transformation of information from one format/medium to another, where appropriate. Understands the relevant organisational policies and procedures and operates to ensure the information is presented effectively. 
Works within business change programmes, assists/supports in the preparation of technical plans and provides advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.). 

Typical Role Responsibilities 

Conducts data analysis techniques to identify patterns of activity and conduct root cause analysis. 
Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. 
Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and configuration of infrastructure components. 
Implements agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines. Configures tools to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure. 
Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution, checking that they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. 
Provides reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, users and managers. 
Coordinates content management processes to meet the needs of users. 
Uses content publishing systems to manage published content across different channels and considers any legal issues related to publishing, including that associated copyright concerns are adequately managed. 
Integrates and co-ordinates internal and external suppliers to achieve agreed service levels and quality standards. 
Applies tools, techniques and processes to track, log and correct information related to configuration items. 
Verifies and approves changes ensuring protection of assets and components from unauthorised change, diversion, and inappropriate use. Ensures that users comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates. 
Performs audits to check the accuracy of information and undertakes any necessary corrective action under direction. 
Applies ethical and robust techniques in the transformation of data from one format/medium to another, in line with organisational policies and procedures and being sensitive to risks around the use of information. 
Develops and co-ordinates plans across multiple suppliers and deliver and communicate those plans. 
Uses appropriate methods and a systematic approach in the development, maintenance, control and distribution of quality and environmental standards. Makes technical changes to and controls the updates and distribution of quality standards. 
Distributes new and revised standards. 
Applies data analysis, design, modelling, and quality assurance techniques. 
Carries out technical delivery and operational activities associated with a technology or group of technologies. 
Understands the technical aspects of systems development and integration to function. 
· Delivers projects in collaboration with project and programme management.       

Expected Skills/Qualifications:

Experience of working in an IT Function.

Experience developing information aspects of a coherent, integrated Enterprise Architecture. 
Experience developing a multifaceted, layered Enterprise Data Model in complex, data-intensive environments. 
Data Modelling and Design 
Good information and data modelling skills across Conceptual, Logical, and Physical specifications. 
Experience in relevant modelling languages such as UML, SysML, and ArchiMate. 
Experience in relevant domain Standards such as ISO 10303:239 (PLCS), the ASD S-Series ILS Specifications, and OAGIS. 
Data Storage and Operations 
Experience with a variety of Data Storage technologies. 
Data Security 
Experience defining the Data Security requirement within the context of the Data Architecture. 
Data Integration and Interoperability 
Experience with ETL, API Management, and Data Virtualization technologies. 
Document and Content Management 
Experience defining and integrating approaches to unstructured Data Management within the context of the Data Architecture. 
Experience with Document and Content Management technologies. 
Reference and Master Data Management 
Experience defining and integrating Reference and Master Data Management solutions within the context of the Data Architecture.
